The School Leadership Team is a group of administrators, teachers and parents who meet monthly to discuss school issues. New York State Law requires every New York City Public School to have a School Leadership Team.
The Team supports student learning and provides professional development to faculty and staff. It also encourages active parent involvement and respectful collaboration between home and school.
The Team discusses ideas and issues that impact learning for the entire school and specific grades. In addition, members review the Comprehensive Education Plan each year.

Members serve a two-year term. Teachers elect the teacher members. Parents elect parent members during yearly PTA elections. The team must have an equal number of staff and parent members. The number of seats on the SLT varies from year to year. This year, our team has 14 members. The school Principal, United Federation of Teachers chapter leader, and the PTA President are required to serve on the SLT.
Committees
Parents, teachers and other staff who would like to serve on an SLT committee may volunteer at any time and do not need to be elected. Our current committees are:
- Dual Language Program
- Green Team
- STRIDE Educators
- STRIDE Community
- Wellness
Meetings
The SLT meets monthly and provides an update at each PTA general membership meeting. This year, SLT meetings will be held in-person at the school. Meeting dates are posted on this webpage and Konstella calendars at the beginning of the school year. Minutes are posted on this webpage and kept on file with the Principal.
Parents or guardians interested in suggesting a topic for the agenda should send an email to Community Liaison Jen Trinkle. Meetings follow the New York State Open Meetings Law and are open to the public. If you would like to observe a meeting, please email Community Liaison Jen Trinkle at SLT2@ps58pta.org.
