2019 Holiday Market Graphic

We hope all PS 58 families are planning to come to the Holiday Market this Saturday!

It will run from 11am-5pm in the gym, so please plan to stop by at any time — even your presence supports our school at this community event! You can find the full list of vendors in the attached flyer. Here are some highlights to look forward to:

  • Brooklyn Habit is bringing their coffee shop to us! Hot coffee, tea, and pastries will be at the event all day.
  • Fill up for lunch with homemade Puerto Rican cuisine like pasteles and alcapurrias — served hot from a PS 58 parent!
  • Forty amazing gift vendors from all around Brooklyn are bringing their products to you! We've even got established locally-based brands you will know, like Brooklyn Slate, Winter Water Factory, Rick's Picks, Fine & Raw Chocolates, Lewis, Craftspring, Whimsy & Spice and more. Plus, you'll recognize quite a few PS 58 parents (and their kids!) coming to represent their own businesses. This a great opportunity to shop local and say thanks to them for coming out to support our school.
  • We have free crafts for kids, so you can shop around while the kids create!
  • Support budding charitable entrepreneurs, with 5th graders selling their own crafts to benefit the 5th grade, and 2nd graders running a bake sale to benefit the Sean Casey Animal Rescue.
  • Missed the toy drive? Bring a toy or pick one up at the Pizzazzz Toys booth, have it wrapped on site, and donate it to local schoolchildren in need!
  • After you shop, leave the market with your gifts wrapped at our wrap station!
  • You could win big bucks at our 50/50 Raffle, where the winner walks away with half of the raffle earnings!
  • Looking for PS 58 Merch? We'll have some!

Hope to see you there! There are still a few opportunities left to volunteer for this event 🙂

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

A Message from your PTA Co-Presidents

Hello to all new and returning PS 58 families!

Welcome to the PS 58 Parent Teacher Association (PTA). We hope you all had a great summer and are excited for the new school year.

You are automatically a member of the PTA, just by having a child at PS 58.

We are a very active parent body and this school would look and feel very different without the PTA and your involvement. You are encouraged to attend monthly meetings: hear the Principal’s Report, reviewthe current budget, vote on proposals and learn about upcoming events.

Fundraising is a big part of what we do. Why? NYC school budgets do not include funds for so many of the vital resources and experiences we want for our children.

PTA roles and goals:

  •   We are here to build community among PS 58 families
  •   We raise funds and provide financial resources to each classroom and the school
  •   We volunteer our time and energy to make events happenThe PTA uses Konstella to communicate with families and to organize volunteers. Please become a member of your child or children’s class groups at Get news about PTA events and fundraising and learn how to participate in and contribute to community, fund- raising, and classroom events. Being on Konstella is a great way to get involved in the action at PS 58 right away.

(If you don’t have access to email, please leave a note for the Volunteer Coordinators in their PTA mail-box in the main office and they will be in touch.)

To join Konstella for the first time, wait for the invitation from your child’s Class Parent in October, or send an email to PS 58 PTA Konstella administrator, Zach Knower at

Please join us at monthly meetings and hear about the exciting things we are working on for this school year. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available. Dates are posted on the backpack calendar and at the website. Reminders are sent by email.

Looking forward to a great year! Please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions.

Amazon Smile for PS58PTA

Did you know that if you shop with Amazon you can have your  purchases help PS58?

Amazon Smile is the same Amazon you know. The same items. The same prices. Prime included. Amazon will give the PS58 PTA about .5% of what you spend. You just need to do a couple things to make it happen.

Desktop and Laptop Browsers

  1. Go to and set your charity to the “PS 58 PTA” If it’s not totally clear, here’s a video of how to do it. (This shows someone changing Smile charities, but signing up for your first charity is very similar.)
  2. Make sure to shop If you shop plain old the donation won’t

happen. Here are a few ways to make sure you always go to Smile:

Put a bookmark on your browser

Install amazon assistant

Install smile always for Chrome
Have your kids do all this for you

Android Amazon App

  1.     Get the latest version of the app.
  2.     View Settings and select AmazonSmile.
  3.     Follow the in-App instructions to complete the process.

Apple iPhone Amazon App

Doesn’t support Smile yet. However, if you put something in your cart in the iPhone Amazon App and then go to on your laptop or desktop computer, the item will be in your cart. If you finish the transaction on the website the donation will happen.

Get Involved

There are lots of ways to volunteer for the PTA, whether you have 1 hour or 20!
