Direct Appeal 2020-2021

Come together for our city, for our teachers, for our school, and for our kids.

Our school needs us now more than ever.

This year, so much has changed, but our commitment to providing an outstanding education for all of our children has not. To enhance remote learning, meet the demands of operating both remote and hybrid schooling, and provide a safe environment for students, teachers and staff, PS 58 needs your financial support.

This year, our PTA will have to invest in new areas in order to maintain an excellent educational environment. From purchasing computers and tablets for remote teaching to securing tents and hiring additional staff for safe outdoor play, our needs are critical.

It’s up to us. Let’s come together so that our school has the support and supplies needed to thrive in this challenging environment.

How Much Are We Raising?

Our goal for the PS 58 Come Together direct-appeal campaign is $250,000

Where Does the Money Go?

Our PTA will spend approximately $350,000 this year.

What Are We Spending Money on?

35% goes to providing vital resources, including staffing support, infrastructure for outdoor learning, and digital platforms for communication;

30% goes to empowering teachers, including professional development, basic classroom supplies, and teacher grants to enrich classrooms;

18% goes to investments in technology, including computer upgrades, digital subscriptions like Raz Kids and BrainPop, and document cameras and writing tablets to support remote learning;

17% will lend financial support, for the first time, to Carroll Kids, to provide affordable child care and enrichment for our working families as well as other initiatives to help our local community.

How Much Should I Give?

The goal for the PS 58 Come Together campaign is $250,000. We are asking families to give $550 per student now or $60 a month between now and the end of the school year. This amount is slightly higher than our suggested donation in previous years and reflects the fact that our school has new expenses at a time when we cannot hold all of our regular fundraising events. If you can give more, it will allow for additional school resources. We know this is a very difficult year for many families who have lost loved ones, as well as jobs and income. We understand that each family has a different ability to donate, and we appreciate all contributions, below or above the suggested donation. Regardless of how much you can give, our goal is 100 percent participation.Give what you can, how you can.
