Updates to NYC DOE-DOH Travel Protocols

AnnouncementsComments Off on Updates to NYC DOE-DOH Travel Protocols

Travel protocols have been updated by the NYC Department of Education and are now in alignment with the changes Governor Cuomo announced for domestic travel as of April 1.  The daily Health Screening Form required for entry to DOE buildings has been updated to reflect these changes.

Changes to Domestic travel protocol

The NYC Department of Education will follow the updated NY State guidance for NY State residents traveling domestically.  As of April 1, New York state residents do not need to quarantine following domestic travel (US states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico) if they are asymptomatic.

Symptomatic travelers must immediately self-isolate and contact the local health department or their healthcare providers to determine if they should seek COVID-19 testing.

International travel

According to the CDC Returning from International Travel webpage, and the subsequently updated NYC DOE/DOH protocol, travelers returning to the US must:

Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel.  Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.

 OR

Quarantine for 10 days after completing overseas travel.

Always follow state and local recommendations or requirements related to travel.

NY State Travel Form

All individuals coming into New York from another U.S. state or territory, or any other country, whether or not such person is a New York resident, are required to complete the NYS Traveler Form upon entering New York unless coming from a contiguous state for routine work purposes or for less than 24 hours. Contiguous states to New York are Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
