Together for Justice: PS 58 Joins with Chancellor Carranza, Superintendent Skop, and CEC 15 to Condemn Racism
As part of the Federal CARES Act, all NYC public school students will each receive $420 in food benefits in the form of an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card. Families who do not currently have an EBT or Medicaid card will receive an EBT card in the mail for each child in NYC Public Schools. These cards should arrive July/August and will be sent to the address on record with the school. Please verify that your address is correct at your NYC Schools Account. The address on your child’s blue card may NOT be the one we have on file. The card can only be sent to a NYC address; if you are sheltering outside of NYC, you can have USPS forward your mail.
Families who already have an EBT card will receive their benefit automatically on their current card by the end of June. The benefits may be transferred in two installments. Families who do not have an EBT card, but are Medicaid recipients, will receive their benefit in a lump sum through their current Medicaid card.
The EBT card is not transferrable and can only be spent for food. It is valid for use up to one year. It can be used throughout New York State, but may not be valid outside of the state.
Families wishing to donate their benefit may do so by purchasing food to donate, or by buying food for their families and then donating the value of the $420 purchase.
